Lecicester City coach Sven-Goran Eriksson has set a two-year timeline for the club to win promotion back to the Premier League, according to a news report Tuesday.

"If it takes longer than two years for us to reach the Premier League, the media and fans will tire (of me). So I hope we can make it," Eriksson told Stockholm daily Svenska Dagbladet.

Eriksson, who took the job at Leicester in October, has coached eight European clubs and three national sides, including Ivory Coast at the World Cup in South Africa.

He said he had been offered to stay on, but declined to detail what prevented him from extending his contract with the West Africans.

In the interview he underlined that he is not very concerned about status, and that he was quite self confident.

"In football you are sometimes criticized, sometimes hailed. There is never moderation," he said. "But I know what I can do, and what I can't."

The Swedish national said he still had an "appetite" for football, and recalled that the year after he stepped down as England manager in 2006 was trying since he didn't have a coaching position.

"I was stressed, nervous and restless," he said.
